TEDDY BEARS

These alpaca teddy bears are made from the pelts of baby alpacas. They are exceptionally soft. Petting an alpaca teddy bear is the next best thing to petting a baby alpaca. We sell the teddy bears in two sizes.

CHILDREN'S 100% ALPACA KNITTED HAT WITH EAR FLAPS

These hats have been hand-embroidered by the native Peruvians. The embroidery consists of small animals, chickens, flowers, a cottage, butterflies or birds and children in native dress. The hats come in gray, light brown and white. The knitted hats may be hand-washed and towel-dried.

100% ALPACA KNITTED HATS FOR THE OLDER CHILD OR ADULT

These hats are knitted in at least three natural colors: shades of browns; another is made up of dark brown, gray and beige; and then there is one with gray, white and beige. All have similar embroidery -- much like the child's knitted hat with ear flaps. No two designs are the same. They are hand-washable and may be laid flat on a towel to dry.

HANDMADE FELTED HATS

This is a winter project for me. The hats are made with alpaca fiber that we shear from our alpacas in the spring. I then hand card and spin the fiber into yarn. The yarn is then knitted into something that is suppose to be a hat, but resembles something that looks like more like a sack. The felting and shaping process turns it into a very warm and unique one-of-a-kind hat. My handmade felted hats either have a rolled or a flat brim. These hats have been permanently moth-proofed and may be washed like a fine sweater if they become soiled. I suggest blocking them on a 10-cup, Rubbermaid plastic container. That's what I use to shape the hats during and after the felting process.

BLANKETS, SOFA THROWS

ALPACA TWO-COLORED SOFA THROWS

These sofa throws are available in a brown and cream combination or a maroon and gray combination. They contain 50% alpaca for softness and warmth and 50% wool which reduces the production costs, making them a very affordable product. The throws measure 60 by 72 inches and can either be dry cleaned or hand washed. Made in Peru.

The Narragansett Bay Blanket is available in a Twin size. They are made from our alpaca fiber which is sent to a small mill in Maine. The blankets are 100% alpaca and are very warm and soft. As you can see, these scarves come in a variety of colors. They measure 9 by 67 inches (not counting the fringe). They are hand-washable and should be towel-dried.

These shawls or scarves (depending on how they are worn) are wide enough to wrap around the shoulders or may be doubled as a neck scarf. They measure 13 by 78 inches, with a 2-inch fringe on both ends. They are each woven exactly the same -- with one a white-on-white, and the other a beige-on-white. The pattern does not show up as well on the white-on-white. They are washable, and may be laid flat on a towel to dry. They are also mothproofed.

The alpaca copper crew socks are available in both men's and women's sizes. The contents include 42% alpaca, 40% cotton, 14% nylon, 3% copper and 1% lycra spandex. The heat-reflecting copper fibers help relieve symptoms of stress and aging. Known for its anti-bacterial properties, copper perfectly enhances the warm, luxurious softness of alpaca. These socks may be machine washed in cold water and tumbled dry on low.

Men's shoe sizes 6 to 8-1/2 and women's shoe sizes 6 to 8-1/2 are available in Oat and Hickory. Men's shoe sizes 9 to 11-1/2 and women's shoe sizes 9-1/2 to 10-1/2 are available in Silver Grey and Hickory. They are made in Peru.

ALPACA ROVING AND YARNS

CRIA ROVING — $4.25 per ounce

Multi-colored cria roving is available in 4 colors: white, black, fawn and medium brown (above left), and in gray and rich, dark fawn (above right). This is the finest fiber that an alpaca will produce. It is from their very first shearing. Use this fiber to make the softest of knit, crochet or woven items.

ADULT ROVING — $3.25 per ounce

We offer adult blanket roving in fawn and white, rose gray, white, and light brown. This roving is considered a prime fiber from the adult alpaca. It is excellent for all types of knit, crochet and woven items such as throws, scarves, sweaters, hats, gloves, socks, etc.

Alpaca fiber is softer than cashmere, light weight and luxurious. Each fiber is hollow, giving it excellent insulation qualities.

Most all the garments we carry are made from alpaca fibers pooled together in North America and shipped to Peru for processing. We are members of this fiber pool. The only exception would be the scarves and felted hats made from fiber sheared from our own animals. All of my hand-made items have been mothproofed.
