I am now attending the Columbia Farmers' Market.  I started back on July 17, with our early apple crop, the  Williams Pride apple.

 I will be bringing....

More WILLIAM'S PRIDE APPLES (A large red apple with creamy flesh). This apple is all purpose and makes a delicious pink apple sauce if you cook it with the skins on. It is also a tasty snack, makes delicious fried apples as well as sauce. I have been making a chunky apple sauce. I do not add sugar but spice them up with a little cinnamon. I have also been making apple butter, dehydrated apple chips and apple roll ups.

I will also have some JONATHAN APPLES (a tart apple that mellows in storage and JONALICIOUS APPLES (a dessert apple that is both sweet and tart and nice and juicy, and a very limited amount of CORTLAND (a dessert apple that has flesh that stays white for quite a while after cutting), I will also have a few bags of SUPREME RED DELICIOUS APPLES and maybe a BAG OR TWO OF GALA APPLES. The Galas and Red Delicious were hit hard by a Cedar Apple Rust Fungus this year and most of the fruit is presently being composted. All the rain we had and the spores from the Cedar Apple trees caused this fungus to hit all our non disease-free trees. There will be a few bagged ROMES too.  Romes are excellent for frying and baking Apple Dumplings as the Rome apple holds its shape.  They also make great candy apples as well since they are so firm.  They are not very juicy but I like them to snack on them.  Basically they are a baking apple.

I will have a few quarts of GRAPES as they are just starting to ripen and the birds know it. I will also be bringing WHOLE GRAIN ENGLISH MUFFINS, GRANOLA, SPAGHETTI and BUTTERNUT SQUASH, MALIBAR SPINACH, SOME LARGE CHERRY TOMATOES, BANANA SWEET PEPPERS, APPLE AND PEACH ROLL UPS, JAMS, JELLY, PEACH and APPLE BUTTER and HAND MADE SOAPS.  I have a new product called SANDY'S APPLE CHEWY BAR.  I introduced the bar the last time I was at the market and sold quite a few.  I'm interested in seeing how well they went over.  I am selling them in single bars and also in 8 oz. bags.
